For every extrovert there is an introvert

Having social anxiety has been a thorn in my side for as long as I can remember. Social anxiety (Social Phobia, whatever you wish to call it) is a very lonely, isolated existence. I'm the polar opposite of my brother. He's very youtgoing with tons of friends. I'm very introverted with, to be honest, no real friends. Growing up I was always referred to as being "really shy". Well, I can assure you that there is a difference between being shy and having social anxiety. I can't count the times I've been asked, "why don't you ever say anything?". I always wanted to respond with a witty retort such as, "why don't you ever shut up?" I think the next time I'm asked that question I respond with the following:

You see, the world must maintain a balance. It's the whole yin/yang concept. Good cannot exist without evil and so on. I mean what is Batman without the Joker or Sherlock Holmes without Professor Moriarity? Well, for every extrovert there must be an introvert. You see to maintain the cosmic balance we cannot have an endless amount of people running around who never shut up. These extroverts must be counterbalanced by a healthy dose of "quiet people". Introverts are helping maintaining the harmony of the universe by providing the yin to the extroverts yang. If I were to suddenly become a fun loving, outgoing individual I would seriously disrupt this delicate balance and the universe would face annhiliation. Now, we don't want that do we?

Well, if I ever actually use this answer in person I'll have to let you know.
